Faculty Recruitment Requirements

Welcome Study Abroad Faculty! Here, we provide valuable insights, strategies and resources to help faculty members successfully recruit students.

During the Fall semester, each faculty member will primarily focus on recruiting students to participate in their Study Abroad courses.

Please note that each faculty member is required to recruit a minimum of 10 students to participate in the program.

Ways to Recruit and promote your program once it is approved:

  • Start Early, Recruit Continuously: Kickstart your student recruitment efforts early and continue until your program reaches full capacity.
  • Blend In-Person and Virtual Engagement: Engage with prospective students both in person and through virtual platforms to maximize outreach.
  • Classroom Visits: Get involved in classrooms to discuss your program and generate interest.
  • Utilize Interest Sign-Up Sheets: Distribute Interest Sign-Up Sheets during presentations to capture potential participants' contact information.
  • Keep Student Lists: Keep organized lists of interested students, and use email to share program updates, deadlines, and important details. Collaborate with the Study Abroad Office to add students to our Study Abroad Moodle Page.
  • Host Information Sessions: Arrange informational meetings to provide comprehensive program details to interested students.
  • Leverage Social Media: Utilize platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to reach a broader audience and keep students informed.
  • Create Eye-Catching Displays: Design visually appealing displays for academic advising offices, your office, or departmental bulletin boards to grab attention.
  • Participate in Study Abroad Table Fairs: Take part in Study Abroad Table Fairs to showcase your program and engage with potential participants.
  • Connect with Colleagues and Advisors: Discuss your program with colleagues, teaching assistants, and academic advisors, and request their support in promoting it.
  • Attend Campus Events: Attend campus events, especially those sponsored by your department, to connect with students and discuss program opportunities.
  • Promote your courses in Departmental Newsletters: Ensure your program is highlighted in departmental or college newsletters for broader visibility.
  • Utilize Student Testimonials: Encourage Study Abroad Alumni to assist in recruitment efforts.
