Program Description

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Study Abroad in Romania is a two-week program that offers you the opportunity to study and earn 3 credit hours in one of the most fascinating and diverse countries in Eastern Europe. Romania is a land of rich contrasts, from its ancient history to its vibrant modern culture. You'll explore a nation with a legacy of resilience, having endured various influences throughout the centuries, including Roman, Mongol, Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman, and Communist rule. Romania is home to stunning landscapes, medieval castles, traditional villages, and a unique blend of urban and rural life. Immerse yourself in the culture, traditions, and history of Romania while gaining an enriching educational experience.
Students will specifically learn about the realities of Romanian society through direct participation and interaction with the community, Babeş-Bolyai University students and faculty, multinational corporations, and planned excursions. By the end of this experience, we will have had the opportunity to better understand and appreciate another culture – as well as our own.

Travelers will engage in group orientation meetings designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the cultural aspects of Romania.

Cost

The program cost is $2,599, plus University fees of $140, totaling $2,739. After you have applied for your desired program, you must make a deposit of $500 via ULINK. The $500 deposit is applied towards the cost of the program. The initial deadline to apply and pay the deposit is December 15th. A $100 late fee will be charged after December 15th. Program cost includes tuition for 3 credit hours, lodging, health insurance, cultural activities, and transportation. Airfare is not included in the program cost and must be purchased by the student. Other personal expenses include passport, eating out, shopping and entertainment.
