May 13 - June 10, 2023 (4 weeks)
Imagine yourself spending four weeks in Summer in Rabat, Morocco—a bustling city with medieval marketplaces, ancient city walls against the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and a rich cultural life with art galleries, music, and theater. While immersing yourself in a new culture, enjoying variety of dishes from the Moroccan cuisine, meeting new people, and making long-lasting friendships, you will learn the Arabic language and culture and earn university credits. For no additional cost, you will also go on weekend excursions to places across the country such as Meknes, Fes, Chefchaouen, Tanger, and the Sahara.
The Morocco Study Abroad Program is an Arabic language program at Qalam Wa Lawh institution, a leader in teaching Arabic for non-native speakers with resources and expertise in organizing and managing study abroad programs. This program will immerse students in the Arabic language and culture through intensive Arabic language classes (all levels available).
The Summer Abroad Program in Morocco is a 9 credit program that includes the following in the package: Two (2) Modern Standard Arabic courses (equivalent to 101, 102, 201, 202 respectively or higher if the student tests out of these levels) & one (1) HUMN 300 Maghrebi Culture in Context course (that can be included as a 300 level course for the Arabic Minor or taken as an elective for the Major in Modern Languages). Those interested in this program are strongly advised to consider it as a whole package and not as separate courses.
The program cost is $3399, plus University fees of $330, totaling $3729. A late fee of $100 will be added to your program cost after December 15th. Program cost includes tuition for 6-9 credit hours, double occupancy lodging with Wifi and cleaning twice per week, breakfast 7 days per week and lunch on weekdays 5 days per week, textbook rental, student phone for unlimited incoming and intracalls, 3 weekend excursions, in-town cultural immersion activities, welcome and graduation ceremonies and airport transfers to and from student lodging. Airline information will be provided to the group of participants, but airfare is not included in the program cost and must be purchased by the student.
