The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has canceled its Study Abroad programs in Italy, England, and Costa Rica for the Summer 2020 semester.
This comes as UL Lafayette continues to monitor the ongoing situation concerning COVID-19, or coronavirus.
Students who were scheduled to travel as part of Study Abroad will receive full refunds.
The health and safety of students, faculty and staff members remains the University’s paramount concern. UL Lafayette personnel are working closely with the Louisiana Office of Public Health, and are also monitoring guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. State Department.
In an age of increased globalization, members of university communities like ours need the experience of living in a different culture. If you participate in these programs, you might find them life changing—you'll certainly have a wider view of the world in which you live than when you first board the plane that will take you to Costa Rica, England, France or Italy. We have a sizable number of students who learned so much and enjoyed their time abroad so much that they participated a second time in a different country. You can earn from three to nine credits over the summer and you will find your classes both interesting and challenging. Our courses have been approved both by the appropriate department or director heads and by the UL Lafayette Study Abroad Program Committee and are taught in non-traditional settings.
