Select yes if the loan will be used to pay ONLY for the Study Abroad Program costs. The Study Abroad Office will work with students who are requesting loans through the UL Financial Aid Office. But, understand neither office can guarantee that spending cash will be available while abroad when taking out a summer loan.
Note: All students must have a passport to participate.
Check with your advisor prior to selecting the courses you intend to take. Since courses may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment, we recommend you select 4 courses. If you are in Junior Division, you are not eligible to take 400 level courses in all curriculums and 300 level courses in the Moody College of Business Administration. Participants of the Costa Rica Program should place "None" in the boxes for courses 2 through 4. Please list the SPECIFIC COURSE PREFIX, COURSE NUMBER AND COURSE TITLE for each course in which you wish to enroll.

Academic Information

  • We strongly recommend that you meet with your advisor to make sure that the courses you select will be useful within your curriculum. Because the Study Abroad Committee will make program and instructor decisions in February, you must check with your advisor about summer courses during the fall advising period. Course changes will not be allowed after February 10th.
  • In order to participate in any program, students must be in good academic standing with the University, not on academic suspension. You are responsible for having knowledge of your academic status.
  • All programs will schedule orientations and some may include additional class meetings prior to departure. It is mandatory that all participants attend all orientations and class meetings.
  • The Study Abroad Office will schedule your courses in the ISIS system on behalf of the students. Classes cannot be scheduled if there are holds on your account, so handle any holds.
  • All paperwork must be completed and submitted prior to departure in order to participate in the program. Failure to do so will result in loss of Study Abroad academic credit.
  • Students pursuing a degree at UL Lafayette are allowed to take a maximum of 6 hours of Humanities (HUMN) credit at the 200 level, 6 hours at the 300 level and 6 hours at the 400 level. Any additional HUMN credits earned will not be applied toward your degree.
  • Non-UL Lafayette students must apply for admission to the University as a non-degree seeking student with an academic major of summer visitor.
  • If you falsify information on your application, you are subject to elimination from the program.
